OVEN FRENCH TOAST |

This excellent recipe can be made for breakfast or served as a dessert. Serves 6 |

| 1/4 lb [1 stick] | Butter | 115 g [1 stick] | |
| 1 cup | Light brown sugar | 250 mL | |
| 1 tbsp | Cinnamon | 15 mL | |
| 2 | Apples peeled and sliced | 2 | |
| 12 slices | White bread | 12 slices | |
| 6 | Eggs | 6 | |
| 2 cups | Evaporated milk | 500 mL | |

Melt 1 stick of butter in a 9 by 13 inch [23 x 33 cm] pan, add brown sugar (you may want to use less). Sprinkle in cinnamon and layer sliced apples. Stack 12 slices of bread (about 2 inches [5 cm] high. Beat eggs and combine with evaporated milk. Pour over the bread. Cover with foil or plastic wrap and weight with a plate or another pan to be sure all bread absorbs the egg and milk. Refrigerate overnight.
Bake at 350°F [180°C] for 35 minutes. Let sit a few minutes before loosening the edges. Invert onto a serving plate.
