APPLE - SOUR CREAM PIE

A grand dessert for Thanksgiving Dinner.

Pastry for Single crust pie
1 Egg, slightly beaten 1
1 cup Sour cream 250 mL
3/4 cup Sugar 175 mL
2 tbsp Flour 30 mL
1/4 tsp Cinnamon 1 mL
1 tbsp Vanilla 15 mL
2 cups Sliced tart peeled apples 500 mL

TOPPING
1/3 cup Flour 75 mL
1/3 cup Brown sugar, packed 75 mL
2 tbsp Butter, firm  15 mL
1/2 tsp Cinnamon 12 mL


Preheat over to 350°F [180°C].

  • Combine egg and sour cream, stir in sugar, flour, vanilla and cinnamon. Stir in apples.
  • Pour into unbaked pastry-lined pie plate and bake for 45 minutes or untill center is set. 

  • TOPPING
  • Mix until crumbly. Sprinkle on the pie and continue baking for 15 minutes or until the crumbs are brown.
